001 ⭐ [Accidental Voice / Action]

[Ruri certainly wasn't expecting to find herself in a rather thick pile of snow upon waking, but that's exactly what happens. Sitting up slowly, her hand brushes against a small book of sorts and, without realising it, she activates the voice function during her brief inspection before placing the journal back on the ground as she stands up.]

This is strange, I don't remember anywhere like this in Ikebukuro. Eh? These clothes... they aren't mine either. [As she examines the white dress, her hand brushes against something soft and downy. Snapping her head around to get a better view, Ruri stares in awe at the small red appendages.]

Ah! These are... wings? I knew strange things happened in the city, but this must be on a level with the Headless Rider. [She smiles softly.] Now I guess I can truly call myself a monster. [Ruri reaches back and strokes the feathers in wonder before giving a gentle tug. She pulls back, but shows no outward signs of pain, merely a look of curiosity and perhaps a bit too much calmness given the situation.] Ah... I suppose I shouldn't touch them after all, should I?

[Action]

[Alternatively, you might find the idol a few hours later exploring the village with mild interest. To be honest, she's still a lot more interested in the wings, and it shows in the way she keeps reaching back to touch them -- almost as if to make sure they haven't disappeared.]

Everyone who has come to this world has gained wings by doing so. At least as far as we know.

Vulnerabilities, maybe? There's all sorts of types in this place, but no matter how strong you are, the word is if both your wings are removed, you die without fail.

On the other hand, they do make adorable accessories. Hee hee.

Some people wear necklaces and ties that can be used to strangle them by someone desperate enough. It's the same principle.

Then again, I'd imagine it takes some degree of strength to tear them off, or a suitably sharp object to cut through, or the like. Not that I've actually tested them, but they aren't too fragile.

It's rather peaceful here, however, so the chances of you needing to try something are relatively low.

Personally I find death as reasonable a conversation as any in this place. Ah, yes. Anyone who dies here tends to find themselves alive again a week or so later, though they're often missing something. [ He giggles. ] Welcome to Luceti.

Troubling? Most would be comforted by the fact that they can't die permanently, I'd imagine.

Joshua is fine. And you are?

Those things tend to have a way of working out. After all, there's plenty of punishments aside from death.

The pleasure is mine, Ruri.
